Headstone of Mildred Schmitt, 9 year old victim of the Lake View school fire of the Collinwood borough of Cleveland, OH in 1908.
The fire killed 172 children and 2 teachers, after an overheated steam pipe came into contact with the wooden joists underneath the front stairs of the school. 169 of the casualties rest in a mass grave in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland Heights, OH. Mildred is nearby the mass grave and is always seen holding silk flowers.
